Course: Intro to Trauma-Informed Culturally Responsive (TICR) Classroom Practices (1 Year Access)

School staff have struggled in recent years to address both the trauma students have experienced and push forward equity in the classroom.

One solution to this challenge is to stop thinking about the social-emotional needs of students and equity in the classroom as two separate goals.

Why this course:

The unique evidence-informed approach of trauma-informed and culturally responsive (TICR) practices for the classroom and school was designed to meet both of these needs. Developed by iOpening Enterprises, this approach has helped school staff understand how to identify the needs of students impacted by trauma more quickly, understand how to support their entire class by building on strengths from their culture, and ultimately create a classroom where students feel connected and motivated to show up as their best academic and social-emotional self–whether they have experienced trauma or not.

What you get:

  1. Learn how to use SAMHSA’s 3 E’s of Trauma (Event, Experience, Effect) to create a trauma-informed classroom.
  2. Develop a more equitable classroom by learning and applying iOpening Enterprises’ 3 A’s of culturally responsive practice (Acknowledge, Ask, and Adjust).
  3. Gain a deeper knowledge of historical, intergenerational, racial, and system-induced trauma.
  4. Practice strategies for celebrating the diversity of culture in classrooms in a trauma-informed manner.

Are you unsure about how to help students who have experienced trauma receive more support in the classroom while also ensuring all students feel like they belong?

Want to support the social-emotional well-being of your students and create an inclusive classroom?

Then this course is for you!
